Jun 18, 2022

Want to get summer ready?

When you walk through the city these days, you see some tired faces. When I look in the mirror, I miss the sun even more, as pale and dull as my complexion has become. There's not a trace of radiance left. Even the best highlighter in the world won't help. But what can you do? I'll tell you in this article and answer all your questions about radiant skin. So, let's get the Naya G(l)ow!

1. WHAT CAN YOU EAT TO GET THE GLOW?

Let's start with the basics. At NAYA, we always look at skincare from a holistic perspective. Because even the very best skincare can only be fully effective if we give it a little help with a healthy lifestyle.

Drink

Tip 1: More water for radiant skin

Drinking enough water helps the whole body perform its natural functions, such as metabolism. And that supports indirectly the skin's glow as well. If you drink 2-3 litres of water every day, it's easier for it to regenerate, protect you from the outside and retain moisture. The effect? Your skin becomes plumper, well moisturised AND you get a wonderful natural glow. But don’t be fooled when people say drinking a glass of water will make your skin plumper. No! You still need to apply hydration in the form of Hyaluronic acid to your skin. The water you drink only helps your organs to function properly, which indirectly supports the skin function. But many mechanisms in your body will not perform properly if you don’t drink enough.

Tip 2: Green tea as a booster for radiant skin

I love matcha and swear by it since moving away from coffee. Brewed in a bag or as a powder in a delicious matcha latte. Packed with antioxidants, green tea protects your skin from free radicals. Free what? You can picture them like this: They buzz in the air around you and attack your skin. It's your skin's job to fight off these free radicals every day to keep you healthy. So your skin is your shield and antioxidants strengthen it to fight off the invaders, keeping it fresh and strong. These days there are many free radicals in the form of air pollution, sun exposure, dust, and others.

Tip 3: Antioxidants from within for glowing skin

Your diet can regulate a lot of things in your body. It is indeed the basis of our vitality, including the skin, of course. But besides green tea, there are other foods that make your skin glow. In general, fruits and vegetables, but also vegetable oils (pay attention to the quality here) and nuts are rich in antioxidants. So berries and pomegranates, grapes and spinach, carrots and apples can all be on the menu more often from now on. A delicious way to support your skin. And boost your natural glow at the same time. Make sure to always balance fruits with something protein-rich to avoid a sugar rush. Yes! Fruits contain a lot of natural sugars which is still sugar and needs to be balanced. Try it with yoghurt, nut butter, etc.

2. CONSCIOUS LIFESTYLE = GLOWING SKIN

Aside from watching what we eat, there are other things you can do to bring not only your skin but also your mood out of the colder months and get ready for the summer. You'll probably already know this too, but our lifestyle has a huge impact on our skin's appearance. It is a very important factor that is largely, if not entirely, in our control. Here are the lifestyle tips that will help your skin glow:

Tip 4: Exercise for glowing skin

When we exercise, we relieve stress, we get our circulation going, our pores open up, and we feel balanced, emotionally and physically. This affects all areas of our lives, including our skin. From yoga, to HIIT, boxing, swimming, jogging, Pilates, cycling, hiking, or a swift walk—whatever you enjoy is also good for your skin. With some regularity, that post-workout glow will soon turn into an ongoing glow.

Tip 5: Sleep yourself radiant

Just like with sports, restful, quality sleep has an impact on your entire life. You have more energy in everyday life, feel less flabby, your mood is brighter, and sugar cravings also decrease. All effects that will breathe life back into your sallow skin. But how do you get more restful sleep? Make sure you have a cool bedroom. Keep all screens off, ideally 2-3 hours before bedtime. If you find this point as difficult as I do, at least make sure you set the night mode so that the blue light waves are greatly reduced, as these prevent the production of the sleep hormone melatonin. Alcohol worsens the quality of sleep. Also, don't go to bed with a full stomach. The digestive process also keeps you from getting a really good night's sleep. The right mattress and pillow also make a huge difference. It really is worth investing a little more money here.

3. WHICH CARE PRODUCTS MAKE THE SKIN GLOW? CREAMS, SERUMS AND OILS: YOUR GLOW ROUTINE

Tip 6: No glowing skin without proper cleansing

It is unfortunately a very common myth that skin needs to be properly scrubbed to be truly clean. Exfoliating beads, salts, harsh surfactants, or even very rough cleansing wipes—NOT the way to go. Such methods flush the skin, rinse out its lipids and nutrients, or, in the worst case, even inflict micro-injuries. Even the best skincare products have a hard time restoring all the nutrients the skin needs. So: cleanse more gently, but thoroughly. We recommend cleansing oil or cleansing gel. The oil cleanses gently and is particularly suitable for removing make-up or sun cream residues. It is also wonderful for impure or combination skin because, thanks to the organic bisabolol it contains, it soothes the skin while it cleanses it. This leaves the skin intact during cleansing and allows it to retain its nutrients and lipids. And, by the way, the further care also works much better! Cleansing is the be-all and end-all of skincare and the basic building block for radiant skin to clean away the day. We suggest cleansing once a day in the evening.

Tip 7: Fruit acid gives you a natural glow

Ever heard of BHA and AHA? Fruit acid peels help your skin to regenerate overnight. They take care of dead skin cells, remove excess sebum from the pores, and thus prevent the development of blemishes. They ensure fresh, well-moisturised, and radiant skin!

Tip 8: Vitamin C serum makes the skin glow

The active ingredient ascorbic acid, commonly known as vitamin C, consists of small, water-soluble molecules that penetrate deep into the skin and unfold their wonderful effects. Vitamin C protects the collagen framework thanks to its antioxidant effect and also ensures the regeneration of skin-firming vitamin E and collagen. Use it in the morning or in the evening for a balanced complexion.

Tip 9: Niacinamide for strong skin that glows

You can find Niacinamide in our Antioxidant Defence Booster. Niacinamide serum is a true all-rounder that has a calming and regenerating effect. It stimulates skin renewal and the formation of collagen (the framework of our skin) and ceramides (the building blocks of the skin). It balances sebum production and soothes redness. The alternative is Superoxide Dismutase, which is much more active and can be found in Aura to help support your skin’s functions.

Tip 10: Hyaluron: Moisture booster for your glow

Combine the Antioxidant Defence Booster with the Aura Hydration Essence. It contains five different types of hyaluronic acid, penetrating deep layers of the skin. Hyaluronic acid binds molecules and carries them into the skin, enhancing the effectiveness of serums. For extra nourishment, you can add one of our oils or Everyday Day Cream.
