Aloe Vera Juice

Aloe Vera is one of today’s magic plants. Research confirms about Aloe is that it’s a great moisturizer and has several anti-inflammatory (among others contains salicylates, polysaccharides, magnesium lactate and C-glucosyl chromone) as well as some antibacterial components. It also helps wound healing and skin regeneration in general.

In Summary: Aloe Vera helps hydrate and moisturise, calms, softens, and protects the skin.

Bamboo Stem Extract

Bamboo extract is the richest source of the mineral silica, one of the most important components in making collagen. In one study, patients were given silica both orally and topically for 90 days. At the end of the study, the participants’ skin showed significant improvement in thickness and elasticity. Suggested recommended dosage is taking 50 mg of bamboo extract daily.

Aside from the high concentration of silica, Bamboo contains a number of natural antioxidants which can protect the skin against harmful free radicals and UV-induced damage, which ultimately contributes to a more even and radiant complexion.

It is also an anti-irritant, meaning Bamboo Extract is safe for sensitive skins, providing a much needed soothing and calming benefits that can even help to reduce the symptoms of dry skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. It can also strengthen the surface area of the skin hence you will not have sensitivity or irritation.

In summary: It improves skin’s elasticity, thickness, hydration and anti-inflammatory while it can act mattifying as well.

Chlorophyll

Chlorophyll is the magical ingredient. It is such an under-dog and surprising to us that it is not available in more skincare products. It has so many benefits! Chlorophyll promotes your blood cell production, which means it gets oxygen delivered to your cells quickly. That balances your skin.

In addition to being a major anti-inflammatory, studies show the plant pigment can heal wounds (talk about superhero powers). So applied topically, it’ll reduce and prevent blemishes. The deep-green power player also contains magnesium, which helps oxygenate your skin (hello, glow!) and aids in vitamin C metabolization.

In summary: Anti-inflammatory, promotes cell production and reduce and prevent blemishes.

Chondrus Crispus Extract

Chondrus crispus, also known as red algae, is a rich source of many nutrients for skin, including the pigment beta-carotene and potent antioxidants zeaxanthin, lutein, which help protect skin from environmental stressors. Of course, the antioxidants in red algae have wider-reaching benefits, too; such as nice film-forming to protect the skin from aggressors, skin smoothing and moisturizing properties. It is the natural polysaccharides, peptides, and amino acids in this red algae that support the skin and shield the skin from damaging airborne pollutants.

Chondrus crispus has biomimetic properties between skin proteins and carrageenans. It has a very long-lasting action and can form a “second skin” like a veil over your skin to defense it against envrionmental stressors. Finally, it also gives a “slow-release” effect to oil-loving active ingredients and measurably reduces trans-epidermal water loss (basically it moisturizes the skin).

Pomegranate

Protects skin against UVB damage and assists with repairing sun damaged and ageing skin by extending the life of the fibroblasts that are responsible for the production of collagen and elastin. This assists with plumping the skin, maintaining elasticity and minimising wrinkles. It has excellent moisturising, protective and nourishing properties and it is wonderful for mature and ageing skin as it soothes dry and irritated conditions.

It has a high amount of conjugated fatty acids that have anti-inflammatory properties. The specific acid found in pomegranate seed oil is Punicic Acid. It is renowned to assist with collagen production as it acts as a free radical scavenger and boosts restoration and repair of the skin.

Betaine

Bio-Butylene glycol is a multi-tasking colourless, syrupy liquid. It’s a great pick for creating a nice feeling product. Used to be produced synthetically but now also plant-derived. We, of course, have the plant-derived version of this in our Everyday Day Cream and Everyday Glow Serum.

Butylene glycol main job is usually to be a solvent for the other ingredients. Other tasks include helping the product to absorb faster and deeper into the skin (penetration enhancer), making the product spread nicely over the skin (slip agent), and attracting water (humectant) into the skin.

In summary: The Butylene glycol  you find in our product is Cosmos and Ecocert certified. And learn more about it on our journal here.

Bisabolol

Betaine, a sugar beet derived amino acid derivative with nice skin protection and moisturization properties. Betain’s is an osmolyte, a molecule that helps to control cell-water balance.  It is also a natural osmoprotectant, meaning that it attracts water away from the protein surface and thus protects them from denaturation and increases their thermodynamic stability. Ultimately, working to balance skin’s hydration.

It also gives sensorial benefits to the formula.

In summary: Control cell-water balance to protect moisture properties in the skin.

Vitamin C (SAP)

Sodium ascorbyl phosphate (SAP) is the most stable and preferred ascorbyl ester. This lipophilic molecule is easily absorbed into the skin, and the rate-limiting step for absorption is its release from the vehicle, and not the rate of diffusion across the stratum corneum as one might suppose.

SAP has a hydrating effect on the skin and decreases transepidermal water loss. It is also a free radical scavenger that is photoprotective and increases collagen production under laboratory test conditions. And it is proven to reduce blemishes.

One of the most powerful and effective antioxidants that plays a vital role in the formation of collagen that assists with keeping the elasticity of the skin intact.

• High efficiency to repair the skin by improvement of collagen synthesis
• High efficiency as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory complex
• Microencapsulated form with high affinity and skin compatibility
• Film forming properties - prevention of skin dehydration, slow and prolonged release of ingredients
• Assists with lightening and brightening the skin tone
• Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
• Sun damage repair and protection

Natural isn't enough. Natural doesn't mean sustainable

Natural doesn’t always mean safe. Natural doesn't mean sustainable. And natural isn’t enough. Plant-based ingredients can be potent and even toxic. Essential oils in particular are highly potent materials and must be treated with care. The only product containing essential oils is our Everyday Face Oil. And if we formulate with essential oils, we formulate with concentrations under the safe dermal limits since some essential oils can be sensitising. We also take great care and work with our suppliers to ensure that we use high-quality plant properties and apply extractions methods that are sustainable or based on the newest Biotechnology.

At NAYA, we form close relationships with our suppliers and research each ingredient to get the best quality materials. So we can then pass these precious ingredients along to our consumer. As quality is luxury.
