The Hormonal &
Menopausal
Skin Routine

Menopause is not a skin type. It is a life stage, and the reason a routine that worked for a decade stops working is that four things changed at once rather than one.

Barrier-first sequencing Fragrance-free Ectoin neuro-calming Peptide and exosome support Broad-spectrum SPF 50+
Menopausal skin: the NAYA menopause routine

Everything stinging at the moment? Sudden intolerance to products used comfortably for years is one of the most common signals of this transition. If that is where you are, the CALM protocol restores baseline tolerance first, and this routine follows.

This routine is for you if

Several things changed
in the same season.

Oestrogen receptors sit in almost every cell type in the skin. When oestrogen falls, four systems are affected at once rather than in sequence, which is why this feels sudden and total rather than gradual.

01 Nothing works anymore

Products used comfortably for years now sting. Moisturiser disappears within the hour. The routine did not change and the skin underneath it did, so the same inputs now produce different results.

02 Redness without a reason

Facial redness arriving without a new trigger and taking its time to settle. Vascular tone is less precisely regulated than it was, so vessels dilate more readily and recover more slowly.

03 Faster than the years explain

Firmness receding over two or three years rather than a decade, alongside pigmentation becoming more visible. Both are real, and both are downstream of the same hormonal shift.

Is this hormonal or chronological? The distinguishing feature is pace rather than the change itself. Chronological ageing moves slowly and evenly. Hormonal change arrives quickly and on several fronts at once. If firmness is your only concern and nothing else has shifted, the Well-Ageing routine starts with actives rather than barrier work. If flushing dominates everything else, see the Redness & Stressed routine. The full biology is in the oestrogen framework.

Morning — five steps

Comfort first.
Everything else after.

The instinct at this stage is to add more actives, because the visible changes look like ageing. That reliably makes things worse. Barrier first is not caution, it is the shortest route to a routine that holds.

Gentle Bliss Cleanser
01AM + PM
Cleanse Gentle Bliss Cleanser

Sulphate-free and pH-balanced. Sebum production falls in this transition, so there is less surplus to lose with every wash. Tightness after cleansing is water leaving, not skin being clean.

Cell Resilience Serum
02AM + PM
Prep — structural Cell Resilience Serum

The foundational step. Supports how skin retains moisture and stays stable under stress, which is the deficit underneath most of what this life stage produces. Apply to damp skin, morning and evening.

NeuroCalm Serum
03AM + PM · where reactive
Treat — calm NeuroCalm Serum

Ectoin stabilises cell membranes to interrupt the neurogenic signal at source, rather than soothing after the fact. Consistent twice-daily use builds tolerance over four to six weeks. A single application does not do the same work.

Everyday Day Cream
04AM + PM
Moisturise — barrier Everyday Day Cream

Barrier-supportive lipids. This is the step that answers the complaint that cream disappears within the hour: the deficit is lipid rather than water, and humectants alone add moisture with nothing to hold it.

Everyday Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++
05AM only
Protect — SPF Everyday Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++

A thinner stratum corneum filters less UV, and UV drives both the collagen loss and the pigmentation this stage already accelerates. Fragrance-free and no white cast, which matters on skin that has become particular.

Evening — four steps

Actives come back.
In week four, not week one.

The structural actives are not wrong for this skin. They were introduced at the wrong point. Four weeks of barrier work first, then the same ingredients that stung become the ones that work.

Everyday Cleansing Oil
01PM
Cleanse Everyday Cleansing Oil

Removes SPF and the day's accumulation while preserving lipids the skin is no longer replacing at the old rate. One pass. Double cleansing spends what cannot easily be regained.

Cell Resilience Serum
02PM
Prep — structural Cell Resilience Serum

Evening application works alongside the skin's own overnight regulation. Antioxidant support reduces the oxidative load carried in from the day, which otherwise competes with the repair the night is for.

Exo Timeless ReGen Serum
03PM · from week 4
Regenerate Exo Timeless ReGen Serum

Introduced only once the routine above is comfortable and nothing stings. Supports cellular signalling and overnight renewal, which is the system that slows rather than the material that runs out.

Exo Timeless Night Comfort
04PM
Restore Exo Timeless Night Comfort

Replenishes lipids during the hours barrier repair enzymes are most active. On this skin it is the most consequential single step, because the overnight window is both the longest exposure and the best opportunity.

From week eight, if the barrier is holding. Pigmentation responds to Radiance Reborn Serum and texture to Retinol Cell Renewal Oil, both starting at twice weekly. Add one, not both, and wait two to three weeks before the next. For extra lipid support on drier nights, NAYA Cacay Beauty Oil can be pressed over the final step.

Works against you

What the old routine
is now doing.

None of these products changed. The skin's capacity to absorb them without disruption did, which is why a routine that was fine at forty is a problem at forty-seven.

Fragrance and essential oils in leave-on products
Foaming sulphate cleansers on skin producing less sebum
Retinoids introduced before four weeks of barrier work
High-percentage acids on a thinner lamellar matrix
Escalating active strength because results feel slow
Several new products introduced in the same fortnight
Abandoning actives entirely after one reaction
Treating this as ageing and adding more anti-ageing

What to expect

Comfort in weeks.
Structure in months.

Weeks 1–4 Stinging stops

Post-cleanse tightness reduces and products stop reacting. All actives paused during this phase. If skin is still reactive at four weeks, stay here rather than moving on.

Weeks 4–8 Redness settles

Episodes become shorter and less easily triggered as Ectoin builds cumulative tolerance. Moisturiser starts lasting through the day. The first structural product is introduced here.

Month 3 Actives become possible again

Retinal and retinol are tolerated at low frequency on a barrier that can now process them. For most women this is the point at which the routine stops feeling like damage control.

Month 6+ Firmness and tone

Structural change registers on its own timeline. Skin behaves predictably across seasons and stress. Nothing here reverses the hormonal shift, but it does change what the skin makes of it.
